Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservation For Their Outdoor Volunteer Day

With PVPLC you will be working to remove invasive weeds which degrade important wildlife habitat and will be replacing them with native, drought tolerant plants! Please meet at the Alta Vicente trailhead next to St Paul's Lutheran Church at 31290 Palos Verdes Dr W, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Please do not park in the church parking lot. Park on the street. Extra parking can be found in Golden Cove Shopping Center. You will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. A reusable water bottle is recommended.

With PVPLC You will help care for the White Point Native Plant Demonstration Garden by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more! Your efforts will help restore this habitat for wildlife as well as create a beautiful place for the community to enjoy! White Point is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar in San Pedro. Enter the free parking lot from the Western Blvd as it turns into Paseo del Mar. They are located at the end of the road on the left-hand side. You will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. And reusable water bottle!

Every 3rd Saturday of the month The Salvation Army's Alegria in Silverlake hosts a bingo event for the resident families. Volunteers are always needed to assist with setting up, distributing the bingo supplies & refreshments, call bingo numbers, and help with other duties as needed. Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservation For Their Outdoor Volunteer Day

Come volunteer with PVPLC's Native Plant Nursery! You will help transplant seedlings and prepare native plants to be planted in restoration sites around the Peninsula to improve wildlife habitat! The Native Plant Nursery is located in San Pedro on a secured Navy Fuel Support Point. All volunteers must bring a photo ID (driver's license or school ID) and must register 48 hours in advance to participate. Volunteers who do not sign up in advance and receive a confirmation will not be permitted to enter the Navy base. Your vehicle may be subject to search. Please arrive 15 minutes early to account for the security. Volunteers will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack.

Please join Safe Place for Youth (YPI) on Tuesday, August 28th for an art and music showcase organized by and featuring work from SPY members! Thanks to the Craig Krull Gallery, the show will be held at Bergamot Station with a special opening reception from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Live music all day and art and jewelry for sale. Donate to Help Supplement Girls Inc.’s Summer School Program

Girls Inc is hosting a summer school program for school age girls. They provides intensive, life changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. Their curriculum includes but is not limited to: financially literacy, health & wellness, academic tutoring, and STEM to name a few. Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles operates 4 summer programs within the Boys & Girls Club of Harbor City and Barrett Elementary School. Their partnerships is with title 1 schools that are nestled in low income communities where poverty is prevalent and access to resources, including food, maybe limited. Donations will provide their students with nutritional supplements that they may not receive elsewhere.
