Share Your Special Talents and Help AHEAD With Horses Beautify its New Property
AHEAD With Horses is a non-profit that offers developmental therapeutic programs for children with all types of disabilities in the Los Angeles area. 2018 is their 50th anniversary and they are celebrating being able to move into a new property, that means each kid will be able decorate their rooms and there will be more space for their therapy horses. They want this space to be as beautiful, safe and inviting as possible. If you, or someone you know, have any special skills, like plumbing, electrician, construction, welding, landscaping, moving truck, etc. Please let them know if you would be willing to donate your services. Donate Much-Needed Hygiene, Food & Clothing Items for the LA Mission
Consider sponsoring a hygiene drive among your friends and associates to assist the Los Angeles Mission in meeting a huge need. Their “Friends and Neighbors” who come to them every day for a shower and clean clothing, do not have access to hygiene products and toiletries unless the Mission supplies them. Their current gift-in-kind needs are: personal care items, nail clippers, lip balm, deodorant/antiperspirant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, mouthwash, razors, body wash, diapers, conditioner, hair gel/grease, hair brushes, formula, and shampoo. They are in need of microwavable dinners that can be stored at room temperature. (No Frozen Foods) For example, Cup of Noodles, Hormel Dinners, etc. Parent Food Pantry! Lead Group Exercise Clases at The Salvation Army Weingart Center in Hollywood
The Salvation Army Weingart Center in Hollywood, CA is looking for volunteers to lead group exercise classes (yoga, zumba, aerobics, etc). Available class times are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays 10am-1pm for Seniors Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5pm-7pm for Adults If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please contact Amanda Soto (Amanda.Soto@usw.salvationarmy.org) with experience and availability. The Salvation Army Weingart Youth Center has become a safe haven for boys and girls, many of whom come from single-parent households, and live in low-income areas which make them vulnerable to juvenile crime. The Center provides for their physical and educational needs through a number of enrichment activities, including after school youth programs, computer instruction, sports, arts & crafts and homework assistance. Adults and seniors are also served on a limited basis with low-impact aerobics and work-related computer instruction.

Support Cyclists at Bike Multiple Sclerosis Los Angeles
Bike Multiple Sclerosis Los Angeles Volunteers needed! Over 200 volunteers are needed for the 2018 Bike MS Los Angeles event to support cyclists riding on Sunday, June 3 as they raise funds to find a cure for multiple sclerosis and provide services for those living with MS. The event will start and end at the Rose Bowl and participants will travel through the San Gabriel Mountains and other iconic Los Angeles landmarks. Many patients have only ever met a handful of other patients suffering from IBD - this is a unique opportunity to meet hundreds of IBD patients, families, and supporters from your own backyard. This convention will provide access to basic preventive services and screenings; an opportunity to enroll in low-cost or free health care coverage; and it will also encourage participants to make positive changes to their lifestyle and behavior in order to improve their health. On the 9th, nearly 550 guests will gather to honor the 20 Candidates who have spent 10 weeks competing for the title of Man/Woman of the Year by fundraising on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Lend a Hand Running Activities at Olive Crest’s Family Health Awareness Fair
Family Health Awareness Fair: Saturday June 9th, 2018 from 12pm-3pm. Open to everyone. Members of community will come to allow children to participate in different activities while also getting resources from different Mental Health, Fitness and Nutritional agencies. Free food will be served and raffle prizes will be happening. The event takes place at Olive Crest 17800 Woodruff Ave Bellflower, CA 90706. Volunteers are needed to help run activities. These activities are kid friendly. This includes football, soccer, archery, boxing, coloring, basketball and baseball. They also need help running the raffle area, serving food and registration. All volunteers show up at 10am to help set up.
Support Red Circle Project at APLA by attending their Celebration of LIfe and Creation Pow Wow
Red Circle Project at APLA is hosting a Celebration of Life & Creation Pow Wow. They are the only HIV Prevention Program targeting American Indians/Alaska Natives in Los Angeles County. This pow wow is FREE ADMISSION. Community change occurs in many ways, and one way Red Circle Project is changing the face of HIV/AIDS is by bringing many minority groups together by hosting an annual pow wow. For the past seven years, RCP has hosted “Celebrating All Life & Creation” Pow Wow in the City of West Hollywood. With the gracious support of City Hall, the powwows have been very successful and success is measured not only by the turn out—approximately 500 people—but by the diversity of people in attendance. The Veterans Home of California will be hosting their Alzheimer's Association "The Longest Day." This is a world wide event all about love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. Girls Inc is hosting a summer school program for school age girls. They provides intensive, life changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. Their curriculum includes but is not limited to: financially literacy, health & wellness, academic tutoring, and STEM to name a few. Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles operates 4 summer programs within the Boys & Girls Club of Harbor City and Barrett Elementary School. Their partnerships is with title 1 schools that are nestled in low income communities where poverty is prevalent and access to resources, including food, maybe limited. Donations will provide their students with nutritional supplements that they may not receive elsewhere.
