Volunteer at Project Angel Food

Volunteers help to accomplish Project Angel Food’s mission in a variety of ways. Even one day, or a few hours, of volunteering can make a world of difference to the community's most vulnerable neighbors. Since 1989, Project Angel Food has delivered over 13 million meals to more than 22,000 critically ill people. Their volunteers not only help with preparing meals and delivering them, and also folding and stuffing letters, beading bracelets, and calling clients to see how they’re doing. Volunteers can sign up on their own, with a group of friends, family or co-workers. They can spend one day, or many years, in service to our community. We have some volunteers who started in high school or college and have now been with us for 10, 15 and even 20 years, and are bringing their children with them now. Volunteer at the St. Francis Center serving breakfast Monday-Friday!

St. Francis Center’s mission is to feed, serve, and walk with the poor as a community of hope in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi. During the pandemic, they modified their programs in a to-go distribution format. But with the changing times, the center is able to serve an indoor dining service once again. Volunteers can help serve breakfast in any of the following ways:

  • Table Captains/Floaters – One volunteer is stationed at one or two tables. The volunteer in this role will act as the server for the table and assist guests with anything they need. This role is the most sought out by all volunteers as it provides a good opportunity for conversation with our guests.

  • Coffee Captains– Volunteers help prepare cups of coffee and provide refills when needed.

  • Kitchen Captains– This volunteer will help in the kitchen. They can expect to help with food prep and preparing the breakfast plates or soup.

Help out at the St. Francis Pantry every Tuesday-Friday!

St. Francis Center’s mission is to feed, serve, and walk with the poor as a community of hope in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi. As part of the Pantry Program, they have volunteers sort through donated food products and make to-go pantry boxes to be distributed to families, individuals, and students in need. Then, usually starting at 10:30, some volunteers can help hand out boxes to our families with the assistance of staff.
