Join USA Triathlon as a Volunteer for The Legacy Triathlon!
The Legacy Triathlon, a prestigious event featuring the same course that the elites will cover at the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is just around the corner. The Legacy Triathlon will take place from Friday, July 14th through Sunday, July 16th in Long Beach, and they are in need of dedicated volunteers like you to help them create an unforgettable experience for the athletes and spectators. Help out at the St. Francis Pantry every Tuesday-Friday!
St. Francis Center’s mission is to feed, serve, and walk with the poor as a community of hope in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi. As part of the Pantry Program, they have volunteers sort through donated food products and make to-go pantry boxes to be distributed to families, individuals, and students in need. Then, usually starting at 10:30, some volunteers can help hand out boxes to our families with the assistance of staff. Volunteer at the St. Francis Center for Senior Friday’s!
Fridays are Senior Day! As part of the Pantry Program, volunteers sort through donated food products and make to-go pantry boxes to be distributed to seniors in the community. Then, with the help of volunteers, they host a community-building event from 11:00a-12:00pm which could include Bingo, Lotaria, or Movie Day. Become a Trail Watch Volunteer!
Want to help monitor local preserves in the Palos Verdes Peninsula? Interested in educating others on how to safely enjoy the trails and natural areas? Become a Trail Watch Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.
- Get Certified: Attend 2 training sessions (must sign up for and attend both) and one training hike (any ability level)
- Visit the preserve at least 4 hours a month as a volunteer for a minimum of one year
- Educate users in proper etiquette on marked trails
- Offer assistance to those who are lost, need water, etc.
- Submit reports online of what you see and hear to help the Conservancy and City maintain the trails
Training will be held Saturday July 15th, 9AM - 12PM AND Saturday July 22nd, 9AM - 12PM
This is an 18 and over volunteer opportunity. Volunteers must commit to a live scan (background check) for this program.

Big Sunday's annual Field Trip Friday's are back and ready to hit you with a summer of fun! We invite lots of people of all ages, from all walks of life, for a 2-hour harbor cruise. Guests include individuals, families, corporate groups, faith groups. Plus nice folks from group homes, hospitals, shelters – some of whom have never been on a boat before!
All participants are asked just one thing: to meet at least one new person. Then, we all just enjoy each other’s company. Along the way we'll enjoy coffee, juice, and awesome snacks while watching the sea lions take in some sun.
Sign up below for the cruise leaving from Shoreline Village in Long Beach: Friday July 21st. This cruise leaves promptly at 10 am and returns at 12 pm. Please sure to be there before 10am! We would hate for you to miss the cruise! (And everyone’s welcome!)
