Help at Lucky Duck Foundation

The Lucky Duck Food and Water Initiative has distributed over 1 million meals to San Diego’s unsheltered neighbors since May 2020. Volunteers help by sorting boxes of food and water for homeless outreach teams to distribute to more than 1,000 individuals living on the streets. Volunteers also sort and distribute items like face shields, masks, hygiene kits, EMPWR Coats, and clothing. On rare instances, volunteers will be asked to pack the meals in an assembly line. Organize Donations at LA Family Housing’s Off Site Facility

Help LAFH organize pallets of donations to prepare to distribute to different sites. This activity includes moving boxes and loading pallets, for which staff will be present to assist. By signing up for this shift please recognize that they ask you to be in okay physical condition to lift and move boxes. Additional training will be provided upon arrival. Please bring water! Help Care for LAFH’s Communal Garden

Spend some time at Pacoima Place to help maintain and care for their communal garden of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. This small garden requires guidance with someone with knowledge about gardening monthly. Weekly maintenance is done by onsite participants, though no direct interaction is expected during your visit. One of the best ways you can help Ace of Hearts is volunteering to foster a dog. For each new foster home that opens up, they are able to save the life of another shelter dog on death row. Help Transport Dogs to Weekly Appointments for Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue

Ace of Hearts is always in need of people to help transport their dogs to and from weekly adoptions, to the vet, to doggie daycare, and on any other excursions that might arise. They also need help dropping off food and medicine to fosters who don’t have cars. If you have a car and love animals, this is the volunteer oppotunity for you!
