PATH provides meals to their residents in interim housing. When groups sign up to provide meals, it helps PATH focus its resources on providing housing and support services for their residents. Their male veterans in West LA love to have home-cooked meals from volunteers. Shifts are currently available at their West LA site. They understand not everyone is comfortable with on-site volunteering. If you want to support the male veterans, ask them about sponsoring a meal through a meal delivery service or catering!

Project Angel Food’s kitchen is 80% volunteer-driven. Kitchen volunteers don’t need to be great cooks, simply take direction from their professionally trained chefs. You’ll join compassionate people in chopping vegetables, stirring sauces, mixing batter, baking cookies, and packaging the meals. They have shifts Sunday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.–Noon and 12:45–4 p.m. For the safety of all volunteers, staff and clients, all volunteers must have received a COVID-19 vaccination and be 14 years of age or older. Volunteers aged 14 or 15 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers aged 16 or 17 years must have a parent or guardian sign a liability waiver form.

Help Westside Food Bank Distribute at their Virginia Avenue Park Pantry

Westside Food Bank operates a mobile food distribution every Thursday from 11:00 am to Noon at Virginia Avenue Park. Volunteers for this pantry will need to be 18 or over, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and be comfortable interacting directly with pantry clients. As this is an outdoor pantry, they recommend closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat, etc. Volunteers will need to do an annual TEFAP Civil Rights training prior to volunteering. A Food Bank staff person will be at the park at 10 am if you need to complete the training. They are looking for adult volunteers to perform the following tasks: Setting up benches and unloading food, Communicating with clients regarding amounts of food they can take, Monitoring the line of clients waiting for the pantry, Restocking the benches with food as needed, Breaking down benches, cleanup, and loading of extra food

Help Westside Food Bank Reorganize, Clean, and Pack At Their Warehouse

Westside Food Bank are looking for adults (18+) who can lift at least 50 lbs to help reorganize, clean, and tidy the warehouse/coolers and assist with order packing. Each shift (starting at 9, 9:30, 10, 10:30, and 11) are only 3 hrs long, but if you would like to stay for more than three hours, you are welcome to do so, but please plan to stay at least that long. Please wear closed-toe shoes and refrain from bringing valuables that need to be stored during the duration of your volunteer shift.

Join American Family Housing at the Donations Casita and make a difference! Volunteers in this role will assist at Donation Center throughout the week, creating a warm and welcoming environment for clients. Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist clients accompanied by their case manager as they select items to meet their needs. During slower times, help sort incoming donations, restock pantry shelves, and organize the space to ensure everything is in order. Your support ensures their clients have a positive experience and helps them maintain an efficient and organized Donation Center.

Help Out and Transport Food for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry

The Transportation Team transports the loaded grocery bags from the packing site at Temple Beth Hillel to the food distribution site at First Christian Church. Transportation Teams pickup Fridays at 4:00pm. The entire process of transporting 150 to 200 pre-packed bags takes about one hour. Bags are transported in Pantry owned vehicles. You must drive yourself between Temple Beth Hillel and First Christian Church.

Make and Donate Pet Food Kits at North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry

Please help the hungry furry friends in our community - they need food too! Make 5 "pet food kits" by filling a gallon sized ziploc bag full of dry dog or cat food (sign up slots are specific to DOG or CAT). Put the sealed ziploc bag into a plastic or paper grocery bag, and add 3 cans of corresponding wet food into the grocery bag. Please do not open the canned food, or put the canned food into the ziploc bag. They should be separate. Treats may also be added. Each "slot" signed up for is for 5 bags of pet food. Label the bags "DOG" or "CAT" appropriately. Finished pet kits must be dropped off the morning of distribution ON THE DATE FOR WHICH YOU HAVE SIGNED UP at 11634 Moorpark Street between 7:00 AM and 7:15 AM

Prepare and deliver sack lunches. Lunches should include: a sandwich (PB & J, turkey, or ham and/or cheese) a piece of fruit (oranges are best) chips and/or cookies (small bag) a drink (water or juice box) and a napkin. Energy bars or a box of raisins are also good. Brown or white paper sack bags and please label OUTSIDE with the type of sandwich. Sack lunches need to be delivered to the food pantry between 7:00am and 7:15am on the date for which you have signed up.

Help Collect and Distribute Food for Saint James’ Community Food Locker

The mission of Saint James’ Community Food Locker is to extend Christ’s love in a tangible way by providing approximately 50 bags of food to those in need every Friday, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Everyone can help by bringing nonperishable food to church on Sunday. There is an ongoing need for individuals to help collect and distribute food.
