Become a California Climate Action Corps Fellow
California Climate Action Corps is a first-of-its-kind effort launched in 2021 to empower Californians to take meaningful action to safeguard the climate. Climate Action Corps is dedicated to mobilizing climate actions designed to engage community members, activate change, and leave a lasting impact. Climate Action Corps Fellows will be placed with Host Partner organizations (public agencies, nonprofits, tribes, and educational institutions) around the state for an 11-month term of AmeriCorps service. Fellows will engage communities in climate action and education focused on urban greening, organic waste and edible food recovery, and wildfire resiliency. Fellows will receive: A monthly stipend, education awards to pay for college or repay educational debt (upon completion), health insurance and other benefits. A chance to learn real-world climate action skills through community action projects. Every morning and evening, volunteers prepare and serve hot meals for homeless families and adults in their Emergency Housing program. These Guest Chefs give their time and energy, generously donating food and a great deal of compassion with each plate. The Club relies upon regular and consistent volunteers to serve as Youth Development Professional Volunteers (YDP’s). YDP’s plan, implement, supervise and evaluate activities with youth ages 6 through 18 years of age in the areas of Arts & Crafts, Leadership Development and Sports. As a YDP volunteer, you could teach a weekly art class, coach a dozen middle school youth basketball, mentor a teen through the college application process or tutor a 3rd grader in reading, for example. The Club welcomes volunteers with unique interests. Depending on a location’s needs and the interest of youth, often YDP volunteers are able to start their own weekly activity.
