Help the Westside Food Bank Distribute Food at the West LA Civic Center

Westside Food Bank operates a mobile food distribution every Friday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30. Volunteers for this pantry will need to be 18 or over, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and be comfortable interacting directly with pantry clients. As this is an outdoor pantry, they recommend closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, a hat, etc. They are looking for adult volunteers to perform the following tasks: Setting up benches and unloading food, Communicating with clients regarding amounts of food they can take, Monitoring the line of clients waiting for the pantry, Restocking the benches with food as needed, Breaking down benches, cleanup, and loading of extra food

Pack Produce Kits with Westwide Food Bank

The Westside Food Bank is looking for adults and (accompanied) children to help pack produce kits. You will be asked to sign a volunteer waiver and photo release when you arrive. Please wear closed-toe shoes and be prepared to work outside and wear hats/sunscreen as needed. Please refrain from bringing valuables that need to be stored during the duration of your volunteer shift.

During your meal preparation shift, they offer a variety of Kitchen jobs to create a meal which will be served that evening. They encourage you to choose jobs based on your strengths in order to make it the best experience possible. Kitchen leads will be there to guide and support you throughout the shift. These jobs may include: Assembling bread bins and dessert trays, Cutting fruits and vegetables for salads and dinner meals, Bagging desserts and breads, Adding utensils to serving bags, Making sandwiches. Preparing any other donated foods they will serve that evening, Cleaning and tidying up. How to prepare: Please wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes, and if you've long hair, please pull it back or up under a hat. They can provide protective gear (gloves, masks, aprons). Instructions and Orientation Will Be Provided. The Kitchen supervisor will give you a brief orientation and instructions for your shift. Help Change Lives: Volunteer To Distribute Food & Clothing at Food on Foot’s Sunday Serving

As a volunteer, you’ll strengthen our community by distributing food, clothing and essential supplies to 350 unhoused and low-income neighbors. You will also meet and hear stories from the participants in Jobs & Housing program. Graduates from this program earn their way off the streets with full-time jobs, fully-furnished apartments, life-skills training, and the confidence needed to make their accomplishments long-lasting. Kids are welcome! Volunteering with Food on Foot is kid friendly and the perfect way to give back as a family. Children ages 6 and up are welcome.
