Donate Hygiene Items & School Supplies for the St. Francis Center
This summer, St. Francis Center will send 80 youth to overnight, weeklong camp! They are in need of items for their summer-camp kits and their back-to-school event. For their summer-camp kits, they are in need of the following items: sunscreen, bug spray, unflavored lip balm, flashlight/batteries, water bottle, sleeping bag, duffel bag, beach towel. For their back-to-school event, they are in need of the following items: backpacks, folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, rulers, glue/gluesticks, scissors. If you are interested in donating, please contact the Development Department, (213.747.5347 x. 100, email@example.com). Drop off-hours are Mon-Fri 7am-3pm, and Sat 7am-1pm. Please contact the Development Department before dropping off.
Become a Summer Camp Junior Counselor for the Children’s Lifesaving Founation
CAMP4ALL SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM would love for you or your high school teen to volunteer as “Junior” Counselors with the CLF this summer at a surf and/or overnight camp! If yes, let them know, and they will send you their easy-breezy Volunteer Form! This program will serve hundreds of low-income, at-risk and homeless youth and families coming from over a dozen different agencies. Volunteering with this program proves to be the positive experience of a lifetime, and volunteer hours can also be utilized toward community service fulfillment at a high school level. The CLF is looking for more wonderful volunteers for the Camp4All Beach & Surf Camps for homeless and at-risk youth & families in Los Angeles, starting at the end of June…and if Fridays in July work for you, let them know and they will work it out with you too! Since 1993, more than 75,000 children have attended Camp4All Summer Camp Program, which provides crucial academic and social experiences to transitioning homeless and at-risk youth from urban and shelter environments. Help Faciliate and Prep Activities for the Kids at Alexandria House’s Summer Camp
The Alexandria House Summer Camp is held every summer (June to August) at Alexandria House for 30 school-aged kids (K-5th grade). The kids go on field trips and participate in arts, sports, and water activities. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate and prep activities and are also welcome to lead their own programs. If you have ideas for camp, please send them to their camp coordinator at email@example.com. All new Alexandria House volunteers are asked to go through an orientation before volunteering. Volunteers age: at least of high school age. There’s no time commitment, you can volunteer for one day or for the whole summer. The volunteer shifts are 9am-noon and 1-4pm. Please consider donating so they can fund their many programs, including summer camp.
Help Coach the Youth at Los Angeles Team Mentoring
Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM) specifically helps at-risk youth (ages 11-14) coming from foster care, juvenile probation and low-income households where most family members have not graduated from high school or college.LATM's Leadership Camp will help provide mentorship and guidance to prepare for high school, college, and future careers. Become a Summer Camp Volunteer at The Los Angeles Education Partnership
The Los Angeles Education Partnership is planning a summer camp for 6th graders that are transitioning to a larger middle school with 1,200 students! The summer camp volunteers will spend time exploring the campus, the schedule and supports/resources in middle school as well as social/emotional supports. 16+ is ideal and need to pass a background check Please be friendly and like to work with students! They are looking for chapter books, used is fine (preferably with diverse characters) and school supplies (notebooks, pencils, pens, craft supplies). They are also looking for snacks for the summer camp: granola bars, juice boxes, fruit, cereal, crackers, etc. Anything will help!
Join Los Angeles Education Partnership and Volunteer at their Camp for Foster Youth!
The youth along with the volunteer will have a lot of fun through group activities and social/emotional games. There will be a brief meeting for volunteers on Sunday, June 24 andt the camp is June 25th-29th. Any day that you could lend a hand would be helpful! Volunteers must be 16+ years of age and pass a background check. Please be friendly and enjoy children! :) They are looking for donations for lunch: really anything helps! *Pizza, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, granola bars, water, etc. Donations of games: board games and sports equipment (used is fine!) *Feelings in a Jar, Twister, Connect 4, Mancala, Uno, any other board games! *Soccer and basketballs, frisbees, hula hoops, jump ropes. Help Donate Much Needed Essentials for The Academy Projects Summer Camp
Camp Xavier is a week long day camp for 40 3rd-8th grade foster youth on the campus of USC from 9am-5am. 20 of the older youth will then attend a week up in the San Bernardino Mountains enjoying the quinessential summer camp experience- swimming, hiking, sailing, arts and crafts, campfires and much more. They need to feed 40 foster youth breakfast, lunch and a snack for 5 days (and would love to send them home with something too). They also need art supplies and general supplies (first aid kits, plates, napkins, water, paper, pens) They would love to have t-shirts made or rubber wrist bands- somthing to identify their kids (there are many camps of the campus of USC at the dame time. They will be taking their kids to the museam because they dont have their space on Tuesday and would love to get them IMAX tickets (40 of them). Books of all reading levels. Also, please consider sponsoring a 7 day camp experience for an older youth. It costs only $300 (all costs including bus trips, foods, activites, life changing experiences and life long friends.
Donate Much Needed Summer Camp Essentials to Thomas A. Edison Middle School
LAUSD-Thomas A. Edison Middle School is hosting a Summer camp for at-risk youth. They serve a largely immigrant population with a high unemployment rate, many of their students stay home for the summer. Their goal is to provide 2 summer camps, a week long each, to provide enrichment, leadership, and finish off with a field trip. Summer Camp is scheduled to take place during the month of July. So they are seeking donations like: school supplies, art supplies (lots of them), office supplies, gift cards, bus transportation sponsorship, and healthy snacks. Drop off location will be at the Thomas A. Edison Middle School in the main office (Ask for Estephania Vazquez). They are looking for volunteers who have a specialized skill in the arts or other teaching skills that they can offer the 7th grade students. Students from college are encouraged to volunteer. Every committed volunteer will be asked to facilitate a 1 hour activity. Sports volunteers are also welcomed! Office supplies they will need are color pencils, pencils, pens, paper, notebooks, art supplies for the arts and crafts activities, and snacks.
Donate to Help Supplement Girls Inc.’s Summer School Program
Girls Inc is hosting a summer school program for school age girls. They provides intensive, life changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. Their curriculum includes but is not limited to: financially literacy, health & wellness, academic tutoring, and STEM to name a few. Girls Inc. of Greater Los Angeles operates 4 summer programs within the Boys & Girls Club of Harbor City and Barrett Elementary School. Their partnerships is with title 1 schools that are nestled in low income communities where poverty is prevalent and access to resources, including food, maybe limited. Donations will provide their students with nutritional supplements that they may not receive elsewhere.
