Support Veterans at The Salvation Army’s 2nd Annual National Donut Day Eating Championship
Help support Veterans and see history being made at The Salvation Army's 2nd Annual National Donut Day Eating Championship in front of the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Watch the best competitive eaters in the country vie to break the world record. Cheer on KRTH's own Gary Bryan and others in the local preliminary donut eating contest. And support The Salvation Army and its programs dedicated to helping Veterans throughout the Southland. They need volunteers to assist with unloading and loading stage equipment, stage setup, and clean-up. There will be some heavy lifting involved, so keep that in mind. This is a fun event and volunteers will receive a T-shirt. Interact with the Seniors at The Salvation Army and Lead Various Actiivities
The Salvation Army's Silvercrest in Lake View Terrace, CA is looking for volunteers leaders who like interacting with seniors and can lead various activities such as arts and crafts or group excercise. And if you don't have a craft or activity, thats ok! Why not come by to lead a game of bingo? Let them know what you want to do and they are open to discussing your ideas! They are also in need of volunteers who can be translators or teach ESL. The most common language is Spanish. Looking for people who are available to come in either Monday or Tuesday for 1-2 hours sometime between 9am-4pm. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Lead Group Exercise Clases at The Salvation Army Weingart Center in Hollywood
The Salvation Army Weingart Center in Hollywood, CA is looking for volunteers to lead group exercise classes (yoga, zumba, aerobics, etc). Available class times are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays 10am-1pm for Seniors Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 5pm-7pm for Adults If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please contact Amanda Soto (Amanda.Soto@usw.salvationarmy.org) with experience and availability. The Salvation Army Weingart Youth Center has become a safe haven for boys and girls, many of whom come from single-parent households, and live in low-income areas which make them vulnerable to juvenile crime. The Center provides for their physical and educational needs through a number of enrichment activities, including after school youth programs, computer instruction, sports, arts & crafts and homework assistance. Adults and seniors are also served on a limited basis with low-impact aerobics and work-related computer instruction.

Donate Your Time and/or Money for AHEAD With Horses’s Annual Children’s Demonstation and Fun Day
Every June, AHEAD With Horses Inc. holds their Annual Children’s Demonstration and Fun Day. This is a day when all of the children in their program can showcase all of the wonders they have accomplished while riding a horse and have their friends and family cheer them on as they receive their Outstanding Achievement Awards. All money raised will go towards their program and providing developmental therapeutic riding sessions to disabled children. They are looking for donations for their Silent Auction that will be going on at the event. They can also use donations of bottled water, soda cans, napkins, individual bags of chips, etc. for their BBQ lunch. All donations, in kind and direct donations of money, are greatly appreciated. They will need lots of volunteers to help with set up, clean up, running the game booths and arts & crafts, helping with the silent auction, helping with the bbq, parking, and many other activities. You can volunteer the whole day or just for a couple of hours. Volunteers who sign up do get a lunch!

Lend a Hand Running Activities at Olive Crest’s Family Health Awareness Fair
Family Health Awareness Fair: Saturday June 9th, 2018 from 12pm-3pm. Open to everyone. Members of community will come to allow children to participate in different activities while also getting resources from different Mental Health, Fitness and Nutritional agencies. Free food will be served and raffle prizes will be happening. The event takes place at Olive Crest 17800 Woodruff Ave Bellflower, CA 90706. Volunteers are needed to help run activities. These activities are kid friendly. This includes football, soccer, archery, boxing, coloring, basketball and baseball. They also need help running the raffle area, serving food and registration. All volunteers show up at 10am to help set up.

Red Circle Project at APLA is hosting a Celebration of Life & Creation Pow Wow. They are the only HIV Prevention Program targeting American Indians/Alaska Natives in Los Angeles County. This pow wow is FREE ADMISSION. Community change occurs in many ways, and one way Red Circle Project is changing the face of HIV/AIDS is by bringing many minority groups together by hosting an annual pow wow. For the past seven years, RCP has hosted “Celebrating All Life & Creation” Pow Wow in the City of West Hollywood. With the gracious support of City Hall, the powwows have been very successful and success is measured not only by the turn out—approximately 500 people—but by the diversity of people in attendance. With each sponsorship, a low-income or unstably housed child will receive: an unlimited ride wristband, a food, drink and dessert meal ticket, and school supply carnival prizes to get them ready for the new school year!
