Prepare Food at United University Church with LA Food Bank
Hope on Union, United University Church is an inclusive, progressive campus and community church located near USC, Mt. St. Mary's College and LA Trade Tech College on S. Union Ave. between 22nd and 23rd St. They currently provide food to more than 200 individuals and families through their food pantry. Visit: Volunteers are needed to help maintain crowd control and social distancing, and distribute food boxes to seniors in need in our community! The food boxes consist of shelf-stable staples such as milk, beans, grains, and canned fruits and vegetables. These boxes go to an average of 28,000 seniors every month at 146 sites throughout Los Angeles County! Since 1973, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank has worked to mobilize resources in the community to alleviate hunger. The Food Bank collects food from hundreds of resources. North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry distributes more than 1,300+ bags of food monthly as the number of people coming to the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry has significantly increased. Transport Food for the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry
The Transportation Team transports the loaded grocery bags from the packing site at Temple Beth Hillel to the food distribution site at First Christian Church. The entire process of transporting 150 to 200 pre-packed bags takes about one hour. Bags are transported in Pantry owned vehicles. Big Sunday's annual Field Trip Friday's are back and ready to hit you with a summer of fun! We invite lots of people of all ages, from all walks of life, for a 2-hour harbor cruise. Guests include individuals, families, corporate groups, faith groups. Plus nice folks from group homes, hospitals, shelters – some of whom have never been on a boat before!
All participants are asked just one thing: to meet at least one new person. Then, we all just enjoy each other’s company. Along the way we'll enjoy coffee, juice, and awesome snacks while watching the sea lions take in some sun.
Sign up below for the cruise leaving from Shoreline Village in Long Beach: Friday July 21st. This cruise leaves promptly at 10 am and returns at 12 pm. Please sure to be there before 10am! We would hate for you to miss the cruise! (And everyone’s welcome!)
