Join Inner Arts City Arts’ Campus This Summer to Support Their Youth

Join hundreds of Angelenos on Inner City Arts' campus this summer in support of equal access to arts education for the kids and teens of our city. Summer on Seventh is a special night of art installations, live music on their rooftop, food, drinks, studio tours and more! Lend a Hand Running Activities at Olive Crest’s Family Health Awareness Fair

Family Health Awareness Fair: Saturday June 9th, 2018 from 12pm-3pm. Open to everyone. Members of community will come to allow children to participate in different activities while also getting resources from different Mental Health, Fitness and Nutritional agencies. Free food will be served and raffle prizes will be happening. The event takes place at Olive Crest 17800 Woodruff Ave Bellflower, CA 90706. Volunteers are needed to help run activities. These activities are kid friendly. This includes football, soccer, archery, boxing, coloring, basketball and baseball. They also need help running the raffle area, serving food and registration. All volunteers show up at 10am to help set up.

Join Students Run LA Alumni and Your Favorite LA Run Crews for a 5k Race

Enjoy an easy, flat 5K course around the Griffith Park Golf Course. Following the 5K, enjoy free post-race snacks, a DJ, games, and reconnect with some of SRLA’s longest serving SRLA leaders. Carthay Environmental Studies Needs Your Help Beautifying Their New Habitat Garden.

Carthay Environmental Studies school would love your help planting and weeding their beautiful, new habitat garden. This new California Native garden has taken root where a large lawn once lived in front of the school, and needs some TLC as it gets established. Please join them for some good garden time and a nice lunch. Master Gardeners will be on hand to guide and instruct and the Carthay hens are on hand to cluck! Workdays are always fun at Carthay!

You can help distribute food and clothing to the homeless and poor with Food on Foot on any Sunday, from 3:15pm to 5:00pm, at Food on Foot's Hollywood location (1625 N. Schrader Blvd.) Devoting 90 minutes of your time has a positive and heartwarming impact on the homeless that you serve. Food on Foot are kid friendly too! They encourage you to bring your children and inspire them to give back to their community. (All children must be accompanied by an adult). Volunteering requires a $25 per person donation, including children. Your gift will go towards funding for the food and gift cards you will help distribute on Sunday afternoon. Join the World’s Largest Street Painting Festival in Collaboration with Light Bringer Project

Join the world’s largest street painting festival with over 600 artists! Free and open to the public this Father’s Day weekend marks the 26th Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival at The Paseo. Over 600 skilled chalk artists from all over the world will come together to celebrate the unique art form. The festival offers visitors an opportunity to experience art on Paseo Colorado’s famous plaza for free. The Pasadena Chalk Festival places over 25,000 sticks of pastel chalks in the hands of hundreds of Madonnari (Italian for street painter) to spend the weekend creating spectacular murals on concrete canvases throughout the shopping plaza that stretches over three city blocks. Many artistic styles are represented in the Pasadena Chalk Festival: classical, contemporary, whimsical, socially relevant. Teams and Individual artists represent schools, creative companies, cultural organizations and artistic families.

Host Bingo with the Seniors at The Salvation Army

Every 3rd Saturday of the month The Salvation Army's Alegria in Silverlake hosts a bingo event for the resident families. Volunteers are always needed to assist with setting up, distributing the bingo supplies & refreshments, Call bingo numbers, and help with other duties as needed. Sprinkle Joy by Face Painting at the Million World Challenge Ceremony

Every year Families in Schools encourage students to read MILLIONS of words outside the classroom through the Million Word Challenge. Now that the Million Word Challenge has ended, schools, students and families will be recognized at the Million Word Challenge culmination ceremony on June 17th at the Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles. Help Host “The Longest Day” at The Veterans Home in California

The Veterans Home of California will be hosting their Alzheimer's Association "The Longest Day." This is a world wide event all about love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. They honor those living with the disease and their caregivers. Volunteers are asked to wear purple and closed shoes. Parking passes are available. Join Big Sunday Help Lutheran Social Services of Southern California with a Makeover Event

General makeover of the interior of the facility. Painting, installing mirrors in the clothing selection area, sorting clothing, repair and revamp bathroom, hanging cork boards, etc. SHIFTS: 1st shift - 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM & 2nd shift – 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM *A light lunch will be served at 12 PM on both days. LSS-SC is a 501(c)3 non-profit that serves the needs of local veterans and other underserved SoCal residents, regardless of race, creed or orientation since 1946.

Help Sort GOODies with the Good+ Foundation

Looking for a first-hand glimpse into the work GOOD+ does every day? Bring your organization, friends or family to participate in a volunteer project at their offices/warehouse headquartered just outside of Culver City. They can accommodate up to 20 volunteers in their space. "Off-Site" Projects GOOD+ Foundation’s volunteer team can organize and staff off-site volunteer projects at offices and places of worship. A courier service is used to pick up and drop off bins and supplies. Please note, they do ask the host of the off-site to cover the courier fees as they cannot absorb these costs. Enjoy your summer with Big Sunday during our 3rd Annual Get-Ready-For-Summer Movie Night!

Share in a community experience of a BBQ, ice cream and Monster's Inc. We invite community members, schools, senior centers, Veterans, domestic violence survivors and others to a relaxing night of community building. As with all Big Sunday events, admission is free, but we are collecting beach towels and sun screen for the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood and Antelope Valley. The aim of this event is to build community; in doing so we request everyone meet one new person during the event. We are collecting brand new beach towels and sun screen.
