"Safe Place for Youth (SPY) provides life-saving support to homeless and at-risk youth ages 12-25 in West Los Angeles. Join SPY on Sunday, June 2, 2019 for their 4th Annual Gala: Thrive! This year's benefit will celebrate community leaders and the resilient homeless youth who inspire us daily. Join SPY for a night of delicious food and drinks, live music, silent auction and much more! All funds raised from SPY's Gala will go directly towards providing resources to over 1,400 youth annually. They are proud to be honoring Evan Spiegel, CEO and Co-Founder of Snap Inc., for his generosity and commitment to the fight against homelessness in our community. They will be giving the Community Support Award to their 2018 Host Home program volunteers Marlene and Michael Rapkin and Lijah Barasz and Wes High who have exemplified the power of community by opening their homes to the young people they serve. This year, delicious food will be provided by Bettolino Kitchen and new SPY partner Bread Head will provide desserts featuring ingredients from their new community garden! Many of us think of summer as a wonderful, happy time when kids can be kids. For as many as 32,000 unstably housed children, however, this is far from reality. This summer, The Illumination Foundation is aiming to sponsor 600 children to attend Carnival For Kids, and give these kids an opportunity to enjoy summer, experience a day of fun, and prepare for the school year. With each sponsorship, a low-income or unstably housed child will receive: an unlimited ride wristband, a food, drink and dessert meal ticket, and school supply carnival prizes to get them ready for the new school year!
